SOCIETY OF ENGINEERING EDUCATION MALAYSIA

The Society of Engineering Education Malaysia (SEEM) was established in 2007 and officially launched on the 23rd of February 2009. The idea of establishing the Society of Engineering Education was initiated on April with the setting up of a PROTEM Committee for SEEM. Since its establishment, SEEM has been actively promoting engineering education in Malaysia. In contributing to such effort, the society has involved particularly in co-organizing conferences seminars and public talks, both at the national and international levels.

OBJECTIVE

  • To contribute as a collaborative platform for the development of education in engineering education, engineering technology, computing education, science and technology including teaching and learning, counselling, research, service and public relations.
  • To form the direction and responsibility of engineering education & related fields to national prosperity.
  • To coordinate engineering education program & related fields in engineering educational institutions of engineering education & related fields.
  • To promote research collaboration between members of the society.

ACTIVITIES

SEEM had successfully co-organized various conferences and seminars which attracted local and international participants. Addition to that, SEEM is offering trainings and short courses to teachers, educators and practitioners who wish to enhance their knowledge and skills in engineering education. Training modules which specifically focused on Outcome Based Education (OBE) and Problem Based Learning (PBL) are prioritized. Updates on the latest pedagogical approaches and strategies, as well as the latest teaching and learning resources are updated to members through the society’s newsletter and journals. SEEM is also open to be involved in designing education which involves engineering services based on multiple engineering disciplines.
